Field Access & Community Use

The Atlanta Rugby Grounds is a shared athletic facility stewarded by the Atlanta Rugby Foundation in support of its mission to advance the sport of rugby across the greater Atlanta region, while also supporting mission-aligned athletic and community use where appropriate.

Through thoughtful stewardship and responsible access, the Foundation ensures the field serves as a long-term community asset that supports participation, development, and opportunity.

Why Field Access Matters

Access to safe, regulation-quality athletic fields remains one of the most significant barriers facing youth programs, emerging sports organizations, and community groups.

By maintaining and sharing the Atlanta Rugby Grounds, the Foundation helps:

  • Expand access to organized sport

  • Support youth development and lifelong physical activity

  • Reduce financial and logistical barriers for nonprofit programs

  • Provide a reliable venue for training, competition, and community events

A Premier Field, Responsibly Managed

The Atlanta Rugby Grounds is widely recognized as one of the highest-quality natural grass fields in the region, maintained to support consistent use while protecting long-term field health.

Key features include:

  • A Full Regulation-size field suitable for rugby and other field sports

  • Professionally maintained turf and drainage

  • Space designed to accommodate training, matches, and organized events

  • Stewardship practices focused on safety, sustainability, and longevity

 

The Foundation’s role is not only to provide access, but to ensure the facility remains viable and well-maintained for future generations.

Eligible Uses

Field access may be granted for:

  • Youth, collegiate, and adult rugby programming

  • Select non-rugby athletic programs

  • Nonprofit-affiliated training and development activities

  • Community events and mission-aligned uses

All requests are reviewed to ensure alignment with the Foundation’s charitable purpose, safety standards, and stewardship responsibilities.

Access Review & Stewardship Standards

To promote fairness and transparency, field access requests are evaluated using the following considerations:

  1. Mission Alignment
    Requests are reviewed for consistency with the Foundation’s purpose and community impact goals.

  2. Safety & Preparedness
    Proof of insurance, appropriate supervision, and adherence to facility guidelines are required.

  3. Equitable Access
    Scheduling is managed to support shared use across programs and organizations.

  4. Field Sustainability
    Use is balanced to preserve field quality and long-term usability.

Submission of a request does not guarantee approval.

Field use is subject to approval, insurance verification, and compliance with Foundation policies.
